Mission

Message from the President

Since its incorporation in 1973, Japan Development Service Co., Ltd. (JDS) has been rigorously following its own corporate philosophy of “providing cooperation to improve the lives of people in developing countries”. At JDS, we believe that this philosophy can only be achieved by means of efficiently and effectively implementing various aid projects to earn the trust of society in our work through our own efforts.

Based on this philosophy, JDS approaches ODA projects from multiple viewpoints and implements high quality assistance (assistance truly required by developing countries) based on an accurate and deep understanding of the social and economic backgrounds of recipient countries. We have been particularly active in such important sectors for developing countries as “the promotion of industries and SMEs”, “human resources development” and “health and medical care” although we have been widening as well as intensifying our work relating to “information communication” and “the environment”, the importance of which has been steadily growing in recent years. From a geographical point of view, our work has now reached almost all developing countries in Asia, Africa, South America and other regions.

JDS regards “human resources” as invaluable assets and has developed a network of professionals specialising in wide-ranging fields to deal with the diverse aid needs of developing countries in an elaborate manner. Our commitment and work have long enjoyed the widespread support of the Government of Japan, governments of developing countries, private enterprises in Japan and abroad and other organizations. We are fully aware of the importance of fulfilling our corporate accountability to society to genuinely achieve our philosophy of “providing cooperation to improve the lives of people in developing countries” and we are especially serious about our commitment to “compliance with the law”, “adherence to fairness and transparency” and “careful consideration of the environment”.

The two principal pillars of JDS are (1) international contribution through various kinds of cooperation and aid and (2) translation, interpretation, report compilation and printing services which JDS has provided since the time of its incorporation. I am determined to continue our work to create a bright future for all people in the world while fully utilising our extensive knowledge and experience nurtured over the many years of our work.

Noriya Sawada President
